From the GD&T Basics Team - How GD&T Datums Control Degrees of Freedom
How can we ensure that we get accurate measurements when inspecting a manufactured part? We need to create a perfect grid to measure the imperfect part against. This “perfect grid” is the datum reference frame. In this article, we discuss datum fundamentals, and how to properly align a part to the datum reference frame to get accurate measurements every time.
